Police in Queensland are currently investigating a tragic traffic incident that occurred early this morning on the northern Gold Coast, resulting in the death of a young child. The incident was reported to police just before 5 AM at a Burnside Road address. A 22-year-old woman and a child were involved in the crash, with a witness quickly stepping in to assist them to the Beenleigh Police Station. Tragically, a 3-year-old boy became unresponsive at the police station, and despite immediate CPR efforts by officers, he was declared deceased. Further complicating the scene, a 24-year-old man from Beenleigh, who is believed to have been in the vehicle at the time of the accident, had left the scene with another child prior to police arrival. The man and a one-year-old boy were later located by the police at an address in Beenleigh around 6:30 AM, with the boy subsequently taken to the hospital for treatment. The man is cooperating with police as they continue their investigations into the incident. Authorities have assured the public that there is no ongoing threat to community safety. Meanwhile, multiple crime scenes have been established to aid in the investigation, which remains active. Beenleigh Police Station, which was closed temporarily, has since been reopened. The Queensland Police are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward and assist by contacting Policelink or reporting anonymously via Crime Stoppers.
