As the 2025 Gold Coast 500 approaches, Queensland Police are urging motorists to prepare for significant road closures starting today, impacting the Main Beach and Surfers Paradise areas. The prestigious racing event, scheduled from October 24 to October 26, necessitates these closures to facilitate the smooth progression of the race and ensure public safety. During the event, the Gold Coast Highway will see lane reductions; specifically, it will be limited to one lane in both directions between Waterways Drive and Surfers Paradise Boulevard and to one northbound lane from Thomas Drive to Waterways Drive. These restrictions will remain in place until October 28. Additionally, various side streets within the Main Beach and Surfers Paradise precincts will be accessible only to local residents and businesses. Police collaboration with event organizers and local authorities aims to minimize disruptions and maintain safety. Acting Superintendent Michelle Piket emphasized the importance of the community’s cooperation during the event. “We are committed to ensuring that the Gold Coast 500 is a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone,” Piket stated. Attendees are encouraged to heed police instructions and respect road closures. For alternate travel routes and updates, the public is advised to consult the official Gold Coast 500 website or follow Queensland Police Service’s social media channels. Enhanced public transport services, including adjustments to bus and G:Link light rail schedules, will be available to accommodate the expected influx of spectators and participants.
