In an extensive investigation, detectives from the Dalby Child Protection Investigation Unit have charged a 17-year-old boy and a 19-year-old man in connection with a series of vehicle thefts and other offences across Ipswich, Toowoomba, and Dalby over the last five months. The arrests follow a sequence of criminal activities that have raised public concern in the Southern Region.

The investigation revealed that on April 27, a 17-year-old allegedly stole a 2017 LDV minibus in South Toowoomba, which was later found in Wulkuraka. Another incident on September 8 involved the theft of a 1996 Toyota Hiace from Dalby, discovered damaged by fire in Bowenville. The teenager is also accused of stealing fuel on three occasions between June and July.

Further complicating the case, a 19-year-old man reportedly evaded police on multiple occasions in September and November while driving in Dalby. On October 1, a search warrant at a Dalby residence led to the discovery of a handmade firearm, ammunition, drugs, and various stolen goods, resulting in the arrest of the two individuals.

Both suspects are facing a multitude of charges. The 17-year-old is set to appear in the Dalby Childrens Court for 14 charges, including unlawful vehicle use and theft. Meanwhile, the 19-year-old faces 12 charges, such as unlawful weapon possession and evading police, with an appearance scheduled in the Dalby Magistrates Court. Authorities continue to investigate the incidents, urging the public to report any further information.
