Police in Brisbane’s North District have successfully charged 56 individuals following large-scale operations targeting criminal activities in the area. The operations, known as Operation Xray Calculus and Operation Brisbane Safe, involved various police units collaborating to address crime in the region. Operation Xray Calculus, conducted on May 8, focused on property offenses, wanding, and community engagement at multiple train stations and shopping centers. This resulted in 49 people being charged with a total of 77 offenses. During the operation, a 20-year-old man from Wavell Heights was found in possession of a steak knife at a Chermside bus stop and subsequently charged. Additionally, on May 9, Operation Brisbane Safe returned to Brisbane’s CBD, resulting in seven individuals being charged with various offenses, including possession of a knife in a public place and stealing. The proactive patrols conducted by officers led to the arrest of individuals involved in shop stealing offenses and the recovery of stolen property worth $1,500. Acting Chief Superintendent Simon Tayler emphasized the importance of such operations in intercepting and preventing crime to ensure the safety of the local community. He commended the efforts of the officers involved in targeting and deterring criminal activities through these large-scale operations. These successful outcomes demonstrate the commitment of law enforcement in Brisbane’s North District to maintaining public safety and reducing crime through proactive measures.
