In an ongoing crackdown on property crime in Townsville, Queensland Police have made significant strides in curbing criminal activities. Since the operation began on August 9, authorities have arrested 582 individuals, including 475 adults and 107 juveniles, on a total of 1,809 charges. These charges span a variety of offences, including property crime, drug-related offences, and weapon possession.

High-visibility patrols have been instrumental in this operation, with local police conducting 948 bail checks and 1,709 wandings, resulting in the seizure of 18 weapons. Among the arrests, a 15-year-old boy from Palm Island was charged with multiple property crimes including burglaries and unlawful use of a vehicle. He is scheduled to appear in Townsville Childrens Court on September 30.

Furthermore, a search warrant executed in Hyde Park led to four additional arrests on 14 charges, primarily concerning drug-related offences. This includes a 39-year-old Garbutt man and two Hyde Park residents, each facing charges related to drug possession. Their court appearances are scheduled for later dates in September and October.

Detective Inspector Jason Shepherd commended the exceptional efforts of local police, including specialized units such as the Tactical Crime Squad and Dog Squad. He emphasized the continued focus on proactive, targeted patrols and thanked the community for their support in providing information that aids police investigations.
