Samsung Electronics has introduced the Odyssey 3D gaming monitor, a glasses-free 3D experience that is set to redefine immersive viewing and gaming experiences.

The monitor, equipped with eye-tracking and view-mapping technology, aims to eliminate the inconveniences associated with traditional 3D content. Samsung is leading the way in display innovation by minimizing crosstalk and collaborating with industry partners to optimize 3D gaming content.

Samsung Electronics is redefining the future of 3D entertainment with the launch of the Odyssey 3D (G90XF) — a groundbreaking gaming monitor that offers a glasses-free 3D experience. Long associated with bulky headsets and visual discomfort, 3D content is finally shedding its inconvenient past, thanks to Samsung’s innovative technology.

The Odyssey 3D leverages three core technologies — eye tracking, view mapping, and a lenticular lens — to deliver a crisp, immersive 3D visual experience without the need for glasses. Built with gamers in mind, it also delivers top-tier 2D performance, switching seamlessly between modes via Samsung’s Reality Hub.

“It’s incredibly rewarding to bring to market a technology that once seemed out of reach,” said Donghwa Lim, from Samsung’s Enterprise R&D Lab. The system uses a stereo camera to track a user’s eye position in real time, ensuring each eye sees the correct image even as the user moves. This data feeds into a view mapping process that reconstructs the image before passing it through the lenticular lens — enabling precise light refraction for each eye.

Samsung has also tackled one of 3D’s biggest pain points: crosstalk, the visual noise that leads to eye strain and dizziness. Through post-assembly calibration, deep learning-based eye-tracking algorithms, and specialized screen coatings, the Odyssey 3D delivers a clean, distortion-free experience.

The monitor is not just a hardware breakthrough — it’s also a content platform. Collaborating with partners like Microsoft and Zero Density, Samsung’s Reality Hub enables not only native 3D gaming but also the conversion of standard 2D content into 3D.

“When industry-leading companies join forces, the benefits are ultimately passed on to gamers,” noted Lee, from the Product Innovation Lab.
