In a significant diplomatic meeting held in Washington, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine and U.S. President Donald Trump discussed key issues concerning Ukraine’s security and the ongoing conflict with Russia. The meeting underscored the United States’ commitment to act as a critical ally in providing security guarantees for Ukraine.

President Zelenskyy expressed gratitude towards President Trump for his personal involvement and for facilitating discussions aimed at ending the war. Highlighting the importance of U.S. support, Zelenskyy emphasized the need for a clear signal from America as part of a joint U.S.–European effort to secure Ukraine’s future.

The dialogue also focused on humanitarian concerns, particularly the release of prisoners and the return of Ukrainian children allegedly abducted by Russia. Zelenskyy acknowledged the role of U.S. First Lady Melania Trump, appreciating her efforts in addressing the sensitive issue of deported children, which affects an estimated 20,000 young Ukrainians.

Both leaders agreed on the necessity of a comprehensive exchange involving prisoners of war and civilians, including journalists and political detainees. President Trump expressed willingness to facilitate a trilateral meeting involving Ukraine, the United States, and Russia to expedite the peace process.

Additionally, the meeting explored avenues for enhanced bilateral cooperation, with Ukraine proposing collaboration with the U.S. in the field of drone technology. The proposed partnership aims to advance the production and sale of modern unmanned aerial vehicles, further strengthening ties between the two nations.
