Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) are set to embark on a series of strategic international visits this week, focusing on strengthening diplomatic and economic ties with key global partners. The delegations will address various issues ranging from transatlantic security to economic innovation and trade agreements.

In the United States, MEPs from the Foreign Affairs Committee will engage with congressional representatives and senators in Washington DC and Richmond, Virginia, aiming to enhance transatlantic cooperation and support for Ukraine. Concurrently, in California, MEPs from the Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee will explore the state’s innovation economy, meeting with industry leaders from companies such as Apple and PayPal.

Meanwhile, a delegation from the International Trade Committee will visit Brazil to discuss the EU-Mercosur Partnership Agreement, emphasizing political, economic, and environmental cooperation. This visit aims to bolster trade relations and strengthen dialogue with Brazilian officials and industry representatives.

In Europe, the focus shifts to Italy, where MEPs will examine the governance of the Recovery and Resilience Facility, assessing antifraud measures and visiting funded projects. In Ireland, tax policies and strategies to combat tax avoidance will be on the agenda during discussions with key policymakers and stakeholders.

Lastly, in Taiwan, a special committee will address issues of foreign interference and cybersecurity, engaging with local authorities and civil society to strengthen democratic resilience. Through these visits, the European Parliament seeks to reinforce its global partnerships and address shared challenges.
