Police in Mount Morgan have charged a 19-year-old man in connection with an alleged robbery involving violence that took place in Rockhampton on May 6. The incident occurred around 1:30 pm when the suspect reportedly approached a food van on John Street in Allenstown, threatened a woman inside with a weapon, and stole a pair of keys from the van. The man then fled in a black Kia Picanto Hatchback belonging to the victim. Subsequently, the stolen vehicle was found in bushland near Dee Street in Mount Morgan, along with a red Hyundai Hatchback that had been stolen earlier that same day. Law enforcement officers arrested the 19-year-old suspect and a 14-year-old boy at a nearby residence. Additionally, a 14-year-old boy from Gracemere was found at the scene and is assisting the police with their investigation. The 19-year-old man from Mount Morgan has been charged with multiple offenses, including unlawful use of a motor vehicle, wilful damage, robbery, and driving without a license. He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Rockhampton Magistrates Court on July 2.
