Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk discussed regional security, Ukraine’s defense needs and coordination ahead of upcoming European Union meetings during a phone call on Oct. 11, according to Ukraine’s presidential office.

Zelenskyy thanked Tusk for Poland’s support and understanding of the security situation. The Ukrainian president said Russian strikes and destabilization efforts had increased significantly and emphasized the need for closer cooperation to strengthen Ukraine’s ability to defend itself against Russian aggression.

Tusk said Poland and Europe would remain in solidarity with the Ukrainian people. The two leaders also discussed coordinating their diplomatic efforts before EU-level meetings in Brussels.
