Queensland police have charged two men after an alleged armed robbery at Mount Coolum on October 5, during which a man’s vehicle was reportedly stolen at knifepoint. Police allege a 55-year-old man was approached at a shopping centre on David Low Way at about 6:20 p.m. by a man carrying a knife. The man allegedly demanded the victim’s keys before driving away in a red Honda HR-V. With assistance from POLAIR, officers tracked the vehicle south from the Sunshine Coast toward Brisbane and Ipswich. Police deployed a tyre-deflation device in Ebbw Vale at about 8:32 p.m., but the vehicle continued to Bundamba before being abandoned on Naomi Street. A 26-year-old Mount Coolum man was arrested nearby and charged with armed robbery and unlawful use of a motor vehicle. He was remanded in custody and was due to appear in Ipswich Magistrates Court on October 6. A 29-year-old Yarrabilba man was also arrested and charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
