Samsung Unveils Secure 5G Office

Samsung Electronics, SK Telecom and Hana Financial Group have launched what they describe as South Korea’s first private 5G smart office in the financial sector. The facility, located at Hana Financial Group’s new headquarters in Incheon, uses Samsung’s private 5G network solutions to connect thousands of employees across 16 floors and multiple affiliated companies.

The network allows employees to use 5G-enabled laptops, tablets and mobile devices throughout the office. The companies said the system is designed to improve workplace mobility, increase flexibility in office-space management and support the adoption of artificial intelligence in daily operations.

Because financial institutions manage sensitive customer and banking data, the deployment includes multiple security measures, including encryption, firewall protection, distributed denial-of-service safeguards and USIM-based authentication. The private 5G network is designed to keep authorized users and devices connected while maintaining isolation from other networks.

Samsung supplied the project’s radios, baseband equipment and cloud-native core, using South Korea’s dedicated 4.7GHz private 5G spectrum. Its 5G standalone core also supports network slicing, allowing Hana Financial Group subsidiaries to operate on separate virtual networks with security policies tailored to their individual needs.
