NASA Names Crew for SpaceX Mission

NASA has announced the four-person crew for the SpaceX Crew-14 mission to the International Space Station, scheduled to launch no earlier than spring 2027. The long-duration expedition will include astronauts from NASA, the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency and Roscosmos.

NASA astronauts Kayla Barron and Chris Birch will serve as commander and pilot, respectively. JAXA astronaut Makoto Suwa and Roscosmos cosmonaut Arutyun Kiviryan will join the mission as specialists. Following their arrival, the crew will become part of the station’s Expedition 75/76.

Crew-14 will mark Barron’s second spaceflight, while Birch, Suwa and Kiviryan will be making their first trips into space or, in Kiviryan’s case, their first visits to the station. Barron previously spent 177 days aboard the ISS during Expeditions 66 and 67 and completed two spacewalks.

The mission is the 14th commercial crew rotation conducted by SpaceX under NASA’s Low Earth Orbit Program. The crew will carry out scientific investigations and technology demonstrations intended to support future human missions to the Moon and Mars, as well as research benefiting life on Earth.
