Samsung Electronics Africa CSR Manager Lefa Makgato is leading initiatives aimed at equipping young people across the continent with technology and problem-solving skills, according to a Samsung Global Newsroom feature published Sept. 2, 2026.

Makgato, who grew up in a South African township, said technology once seemed beyond reach. Her perspective changed in 2012 after she encountered Samsung’s Solar Powered Internet School, an experience that influenced her later commitment to expanding access to digital education.

She now oversees Samsung’s corporate social responsibility programs across Africa, including Solve for Tomorrow. The initiative supports students as they develop technology-based solutions to social challenges and encourages them to become future digital innovators.

Samsung said Makgato’s work focuses not only on helping students use technology, but also on preparing them to shape the continent’s future. The company profiled her efforts in a video released through its global newsroom.
