Samsung Electronics’ board has approved a shareholder return plan estimated at 90 trillion to 110 trillion Korean won for 2026, the company said. The plan would represent the largest shareholder return by a Korean company and would be about five times Samsung’s previous record of 20.3 trillion won, set in 2020.

The plan is part of Samsung’s 2024–2026 shareholder return policy, which commits the company to allocating 50% of its free cash flow to shareholders. Samsung said it paid 19.6 trillion won in regular dividends during 2024 and 2025, along with a 1.3 trillion won special dividend and an 8.4 trillion won share buyback and cancellation in 2025.

Including the planned 2026 distribution, total shareholder returns over the three-year period are expected to reach between 120 trillion won and 140 trillion won. Samsung plans to distribute approximately 30 trillion won in cash dividends during the third quarter of 2026, with details scheduled for final approval at an October board meeting.

The remaining 2026 shareholder return will be determined in January 2027 after the company confirms its annual financial performance. It is expected to include cash dividends and additional share buybacks or cancellations. The board also approved a buyback of approximately 15 trillion won for employee compensation.
