Pair Charged in Brisbane Offences

Queensland police have charged a 27-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman with more than 50 offences after allegedly finding drugs, weapons and false number plates in a stolen vehicle at Aspley.

Officers from the Boondall Tactical Crime Squad allegedly saw a grey Mazda 3 displaying a false Victorian registration plate at a shopping centre near Gympie Road about 5 p.m. on August 17. Police later stopped the vehicle and found approximately 166 grams of methylamphetamine, a homemade taser, a knife, drug paraphernalia and several false number plates.

Police said the Mazda had been reported stolen from Springwood on May 19. Both occupants, who are from Deception Bay, were also wanted on warrants relating to firearms, dangerous drugs and other matters.

The man faces 33 charges, including alleged unlawful possession of weapons and dangerous drugs, while the woman faces 24 charges, including alleged weapons and drug offences, fraud and unlawful use of a vehicle. Both were due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on August 18.
