Queensland police are appealing for information after three hobby shops in the Gold Coast and South Brisbane districts were broken into during the early hours of August 18, 2026. The offenders reportedly stole safes containing trading cards and several replica firearms. Police were called to a collectables store on Olsen Avenue, Southport, at about 1:40 a.m. Preliminary investigations indicate that a group wearing balaclavas forced entry and took a safe before fleeing in a white hatchback without registration plates. A second break-in was reported at about 2:35 a.m. at a collectables store on John Lund Drive, Hope Island. A group allegedly forced entry and stole another safe containing valuable trading cards. At about 3:30 a.m., a group wearing balaclavas reportedly entered a collectables store on Jackson Road, Sunnybank, using a white hatchback. Several replica firearms were stolen.
