A 28-year-old Willowvale man has been charged following an alleged armed robbery, dangerous driving and vehicle theft in Queensland’s Southern Downs region. Queensland Police allege the man entered a shed at a Silverwood property near Warwick about 10 p.m. on Aug. 12 while armed with a firearm. The property owner allegedly confronted him before he discharged the weapon and stole a quad bike, which was later found abandoned on Blake Road. Police said the man was located in Stanthorpe about 11 a.m. the following day, allegedly driving a stolen Skoda station wagon at high speed along the New England Highway. The vehicle stopped on Brown Road in Willowvale shortly after 2 p.m., where specialist officers arrested him. Two firearms were allegedly found inside. The man faces 10 charges, including armed robbery, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, weapons offences, drug possession, evasion and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
