A 42-year-old Townsville man has been charged following a crash in which two motorcyclists were allegedly struck by a vehicle on Castle Hill Road. Queensland Police said two motorbikes were parked on a footpath at about 11 p.m. on August 6, with the riders standing nearby, when a white Holden Commodore utility mounted the footpath and hit both men. The 31-year-old riders sustained minor injuries and were taken to hospital. Police allege the driver left the scene without providing assistance. The man, from Townsville City, was arrested on August 7 and charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle and failing to remain at the scene and render assistance to an injured person, with callous disregard for the person’s needs.
