Fifteen people have been charged with a total of 44 offences following a high-visibility Queensland Police operation in Mackay from July 31 to August 2. The operation involved Mackay officers, specialist units and POLAIR. Police conducted 46 random breath tests and 43 street checks, issued 11 traffic infringement notices and seized 10 non-compliant e-mobility devices during the operation. A 33-year-old Mackay man was arrested after a dark Ford Falcon was allegedly seen travelling at more than 100km/h in 60km/h zones on Norris Road in North Mackay on July 31. He was charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and driving without a licence. The man remains in custody and is due to appear in Mackay Magistrates Court on August 4. On August 2, police searched a property in Slade Point after POLAIR tracked a stolen vehicle to the address. Officers allegedly located a rifle, dangerous drugs and stolen property. A 41-year-old North Mackay man was charged with offences including possessing methylamphetamine, restricted items and property suspected of being connected to a drug offence, as well as driving-related offences.
