Zelenskyy Reviews Port Security, Air Defense

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a military staff meeting and spoke with the U.S. vice president on July 31, discussing Russian attacks, port infrastructure and Ukraine’s air-defense needs.

The staff meeting focused on the situation along the front and efforts to protect port facilities and the maritime corridor from Russian strikes, according to the Ukrainian president’s office.

In a separate phone call, Zelenskyy and the U.S. vice president followed up on the July 28 meeting between Zelenskyy and U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington, which the Ukrainian side described as positive and productive.

Zelenskyy said air defense remains Ukraine’s top priority as Russian air attacks continue. He specifically highlighted the need for Patriot interceptors to counter ballistic missiles.
