A 31-year-old Carina man has been charged over an alleged vehicle theft, arson and related offences following investigations across the Gold Coast, Logan and southern Brisbane areas, Queensland Police said. Emergency services were called to Loves Road, Woongoolba, at about 7:50 p.m. on July 30 after a grey Ford Ranger was reportedly set alight. The fire spread to nearby cane fields. Police allege the vehicle had been stolen from McTaggart Place, Carrara, on July 17. Officers located the man at a property on Hawkwood Street, Mount Gravatt East, about 10:15 p.m. He was taken into custody and charged with multiple offences, including bringing stolen goods into Queensland, fraud, unlawful use of motor vehicles, arson, setting fire to vegetation, receiving tainted property and drug-related offences. The man was due to appear before Brisbane Magistrates Court on July 31.
