Queensland police have charged a 46-year-old Beaconsfield man following an investigation into an alleged break-in at a retirement facility in East Mackay on July 18. Police allege the man entered a residence on McIntyre Street between 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. and stole jewellery, identification and cash belonging to a 95-year-old woman. Officers executed a search warrant at a Bellavista Court address in Beaconsfield on July 28 and located several items of jewellery, police said. The man has been charged with entering a dwelling and committing an offence, as well as possessing dangerous drugs. He remains in custody and is due to appear in Mackay Magistrates Court on August 3. The investigation forms part of Operation Yankee Forge, a statewide Queensland Police initiative targeting unlawful entry, robbery and other high-harm offences.
