NASA Astronaut to Brief Media

NASA astronaut Chris Williams will discuss his eight-month mission aboard the International Space Station during a news conference Aug. 4 at the agency’s Johnson Space Center in Houston. The event is scheduled for 2:45 p.m. EDT and will be streamed online through NASA’s website.

Williams returned to Earth July 26 after completing 241 days as an Expedition 73/74 flight engineer during his first spaceflight. He traveled with Roscosmos cosmonauts Sergey Kud-Sverchkov and Sergei Mikaev, completing 3,856 orbits during a journey of more than 102 million miles.

During the mission, Williams supported research into cancer treatments, semiconductor crystal production and in-space manufacturing. He also conducted two spacewalks to prepare for space station power system upgrades and replace a faulty joint on the Canadarm2 robotic arm.

U.S.-based media seeking to attend in person must contact the Johnson Space Center newsroom by July 31. Media participating by phone must make arrangements in advance and join the call at least 15 minutes before the briefing begins.
