Two Shot in Mount Sheridan Incident

Two people were shot by police during an incident in Mount Sheridan, Queensland, on July 25, prompting an investigation by the Queensland Police Service’s Ethical Standards Command.

Police were called to Benjamina Street at about 5:10 p.m. following reports of an attempted armed robbery. A man was reported to have fled on foot and was later located near the roundabout of Hardy Road, Foster Road and Lizard Street.

Officers attempted to engage with the 28-year-old man before he was shot on Foster Road. During the altercation, a civilian woman also sustained a gunshot wound. Police provided first aid to both people, who were taken to Cairns Base Hospital for treatment.

No police officers were injured. A crime scene has been established, and police said there is no ongoing risk to the public. The investigation is being conducted under the oversight of Queensland’s Crime and Corruption Commission.
