Ukraine Reports Major Missile Attack

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Russia launched one of its largest ballistic-missile attacks of the war on July 19, targeting Kyiv and the surrounding region. He said strikes also hit Kharkiv, Sumy, Donetsk and Kherson regions, while emergency crews continued working at damaged sites.

According to Zelenskyy, Ukrainian air defense forces destroyed 18 missiles and neutralized more than 100 drones. He said the attack damaged more than 100 sites in Kyiv and the Kyiv region, though the statement did not provide details on casualties.

Zelenskyy called on Ukraine’s international partners to accelerate previously agreed military-support packages, particularly air-defense systems and missiles. He said Ukrainian officials would engage with European and U.S. partners to secure additional assistance.

The president also said he had consulted military commanders on battlefield conditions and Ukraine’s future strategy. He pledged to continue long-range sanctions against Russia and pursue Ukrainian strikes against Russian military and energy targets, describing increased pressure on Moscow as necessary to achieve peace and security for Ukraine.
