Detectives have charged a 27-year-old man from Yeronga with the unlawful striking causing death of a 66-year-old man in West End, Brisbane, following an incident early on July 5. The altercation took place around 12:23 AM at a park located at the intersection of Thomas Street and Vulture Street. According to police, the two men did not know each other prior to the incident. During the altercation, it is alleged that the younger man struck the older man, causing him to fall and sustain a fatal head injury. The victim was later transported to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Following a swift investigation, the suspect was arrested later that evening in Fortitude Valley. Alongside the charge related to the death, he faces two counts of possessing dangerous drugs. He is scheduled to appear before the Brisbane Magistrates Court today.
