Two teenagers have been charged following a series of violent incidents in Helensvale and Thornlands on the night of June 22, according to Queensland Police. The assaults, which occurred at a licensed venue and a private residence, left several individuals injured. At approximately 9:30 PM, an 18-year-old from the Gold Coast and a 16-year-old from Wellington Point allegedly assaulted a 20-year-old male staff member and a 73-year-old patron at a venue on Sir John Overall Drive. The victims received non-life-threatening injuries. The suspects are also accused of damaging property at the location before fleeing the scene. Later, around 11:30 PM, the same 16-year-old, accompanied by another unidentified assailant, reportedly broke into a home on Blue Water Avenue in Thornlands. The confrontation with the homeowners led to further assaults, resulting in non-life-threatening injuries to a 19-year-old man and a 23-year-old man, both of whom were hospitalized. The 16-year-old has been charged with 16 criminal counts, including multiple assault and property damage offenses. He is scheduled to appear in Cleveland Children’s Court. The 18-year-old faces charges related to assault, drug possession, and possessing counterfeit money, with a court appearance set for the same day at Cleveland Magistrates Court.
