Europol, in collaboration with the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU and the European Commission, is set to host a press conference on June 26, 2026, at 10:00 CEST. The conference will unveil the latest edition of the Europol mapping report titled “Decoding the EU’s Most Threatening Criminal Networks: Issue 2 – The Blueprint of Criminal Opportunism.” This event will take place at the VIP media corner at the Berlaymont in Brussels, Belgium, and will also be available via a live stream on the Europol website. The report provides a detailed analysis of the most threatening criminal networks (MTCNs) within the EU, focusing on their resilience, adaptability, and the opportunistic strategies they employ. The discussion will cover the current state of these networks, the impact of law enforcement operations in disrupting their activities, and strategies to enhance the EU’s response to organized crime through a systemic and collaborative approach. Speakers at the event include Themistos Arnaoutis, Chief of Cyprus Police; Magnus Brunner, European Commissioner for Internal Affairs and Migration; and Jürgen Ebner, Acting Executive Director of Europol. Media interested in attending the conference can request a temporary 1-day accreditation if they do not already possess media accreditation for the European Commission.
