Zelenskyy Reports Heavy Kyiv Strike

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said at least 83 people were injured and fatalities were reported after a large-scale Russian strike across Ukraine. In an address published May 24, he said emergency responders and other services were working at affected sites.

Zelenskyy said Russia launched 90 missiles, including 36 ballistic missiles, and 600 drones. He identified Kyiv as the primary target and said the capital sustained the largest number of impacts. The claims have not been independently verified in the statement.

According to the president, residential buildings, schools, a market and a water supply facility were damaged in the attacks. He also said a missile struck Bila Tserkva, referring to the weapon as Russia’s “Oreshnik.”

Zelenskyy called for international consequences against Russia and urged the United States, European countries and other partners to strengthen Ukraine’s air defenses, particularly systems capable of intercepting ballistic missiles. He said continued international support was essential to protecting civilians and pursuing peace.
