A 46-year-old man suffered life-threatening injuries after allegedly being struck with a piece of timber at a unit complex in Manunda, Cairns, late May 23, Queensland police said. He was taken to Cairns Hospital for treatment.

Police said two men and a woman attended the complex on James Street at about 11 p.m. The victim was allegedly attacked after answering the door.

Crime scenes have been established at two units within the complex. Three people were taken into custody and are assisting police with inquiries.
