Europol and law enforcement agencies from 31 countries have identified millions of euros in suspected criminal assets during the latest operational week of Project A.S.S.E.T., an international effort targeting the finances of serious and organised crime. The operation was held from 19 to 22 May 2026 at Europol’s headquarters in The Hague. Investigators identified 884 bank accounts, 80 companies, 55 cryptocurrency wallets, 74 vehicles, one vessel and 44 real estate properties. Six of the properties were valued at a combined €5.64 million. Authorities also located two suspected criminals, one of whom was arrested through the European Network of Fugitive Active Search Teams. More than 40 law enforcement agencies, including Asset Recovery Offices, Financial Intelligence Units and specialist money-laundering units, took part. The operation was supported by Eurojust, Interpol, the European Public Prosecutor’s Office, the Anti-Money Laundering Authority and private-sector partners from the financial and cryptocurrency industries. Europol said the exact value of the assets will be established through follow-up investigations. The operation also provided intelligence on emerging money-laundering methods. It followed a cryptocurrency-focused operation in October 2025, which identified digital assets worth €12.1 million, along with bank accounts, companies, real estate and luxury vehicles linked to suspected criminal activity.
