Police Probe Maroochydore Car Park Break-Ins

Queensland police are investigating a series of basement car park break-ins at apartment complexes in Maroochydore and have urged residents to secure valuables and vehicles. The incidents occurred between May 3 and May 6, with bicycles stolen and vehicles and property searched or damaged.

Police said three masked suspects allegedly accessed an underground garage on Duporth Avenue at about 10 p.m. on May 3 by disabling its automatic opening mechanism. An electric bike was stolen.

A separate break-in was reported at a residential complex on Picnic Point Esplanade around 9 p.m. on May 5. Investigators allege suspects disabled the electronic garage door before searching cars and storage areas and stealing two bicycles.

On May 6, at about 9:04 p.m., at least two men allegedly manually opened a garage door at a Sixth Avenue property and searched several vehicles. No property was reported stolen, although some damage was caused. A 29-year-old Bli Bli man was arrested on May 14 and charged with two counts of entering premises with intent to commit an indictable offence. He remains in custody and is due to appear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on June 26.
