EU Air Rights Press Point Cancelled

The European Parliament has cancelled a planned press briefing on negotiations over revised European Union air passenger rights. The press point had been scheduled for May 19, 2026, in Strasbourg, following talks between Parliament and EU member states.

Parliament rapporteur Andrey Novakov and Transport and Tourism Committee Vice-Chair Virginijus Sinkevičius were due to brief journalists on the negotiations. The meeting was part of an ongoing conciliation process aimed at reaching an agreement by mid-June.

Parliament adopted its position on the proposed rules in January, supporting passengers’ rights to reimbursement or rerouting and compensation when flights are significantly delayed, cancelled or subject to denied boarding. EU ministers rejected Parliament’s proposals in March, prompting further interinstitutional negotiations.
