Hyundai Motor Group and its Hong Kong partners have signed an agreement to accelerate development of the city’s hydrogen economy, marking a new step in the automaker’s Asia-Pacific expansion. The agreement was announced at the International Hydrogen Development Symposium 2026. The partnership will focus on a waste-to-hydrogen model, using technology and operational experience developed in South Korea and Indonesia. The initiative is intended to support local production of low-carbon hydrogen and strengthen Hong Kong’s emerging hydrogen infrastructure. Plans also call for the development and operation of liquid hydrogen refueling stations, along with the deployment of hydrogen-powered commercial vehicles. Hyundai said the projects are designed to help establish a broader hydrogen ecosystem in the region. The company described the Hong Kong partnership as a potential launchpad for expanding its hydrogen-related business across the Asia-Pacific region.
