A 45-year-old Queensland Police senior constable has been charged over alleged fraud and computer hacking offences in the Far Northern Region, Queensland Police Service said in a statement issued May 15. The officer was served with a notice to appear and faces one count of fraud involving an alleged dishonest gain and one count of allegedly misusing a restricted computer. The offences are alleged to have occurred while the officer was off duty. The senior constable has been stood down from the Queensland Police Service and is due to appear in Cairns Magistrates Court on May 22, 2026. Queensland Police said the charges reflect its commitment to transparency and accountability but stressed that the allegations have not been substantiated.
