Police Seek Witnesses in Buderim Hit-and-Run

Queensland Police have released footage of a vehicle that may assist investigations into a hit-and-run crash that seriously injured a teenage cyclist in Buderim on May 7.

Police said the 13-year-old Mooloolaba boy was riding along Sugar Road shortly after 6 p.m. when he was struck at the roundabout intersection with Wises Road. He suffered serious leg injuries and has undergone four major surgeries. He remains in Queensland Children’s Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Investigators believe the vehicle was a white, dual-cab four-wheel-drive utility with black rims and a white canopy. It reportedly travelled south on Maud Street before the crash, continued briefly along Sugar Road and then turned right onto Okinja Crescent.

The Forensic Crash Unit is appealing for the driver and anyone with information about the vehicle to contact police. Officers also want to speak with the driver of a white Hyundai i20 three-door hatchback displaying P plates, who stopped at the scene and may have witnessed the crash.
