Queensland police have charged four males after an alleged break-in at a shopping centre and liquor store in Edmonton on May 13. Officers say alcohol was stolen during the incident. Police allege the group broke a glass panel at a shopping centre on Walker Road at about 12:40 a.m. before forcing entry into the liquor store. Police Dog Elvis tracked and located two suspects—one on an oval and another in nearby bushland. Officers from the Tactical Crime Squad later arrested the remaining two suspects and recovered beer and spirits, police said. Two 18-year-old men from Manoora and Edmonton were each charged with two counts of entering premises and committing an indictable offence by break. They are due to appear in Cairns Magistrates Court on May 29. Two 17-year-old boys from Woree and Edmonton were also charged with two counts each and are scheduled to appear in court on May 20. The arrests were part of Operation Yankee Forge, a statewide initiative targeting property crime, robbery and other high-harm offences.
