Detectives from the Ipswich Criminal Investigation Branch have apprehended two men following a violent confrontation in Bellbird Park, which occurred on the afternoon of April 19. The incident escalated from a verbal dispute to a physical altercation involving weapons. The confrontation began just after 2 p.m. at a residence on Whipbird Street, where a 22-year-old local man allegedly assaulted a 25-year-old from Ipswich, dragging him into a garage. In the garage, a second Bellbird Park man, aged 21, is accused of using a bladed weapon to inflict multiple wounds on the Ipswich man. Subsequently, the 22-year-old reportedly attacked a 24-year-old man from Augustine Heights with a garden tool, striking him in the chest and back. The altercation spilled into the street, drawing in several witnesses until police intervened. The 25-year-old victim was found on Eagle Street and rushed to Princess Alexandra Hospital in critical condition, alongside the 24-year-old, who was discovered on Coleen Street, Redbank Plains. The 22-year-old was arrested after receiving treatment for minor injuries at Ipswich Hospital. He faces two counts of acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm. The 21-year-old was arrested later that evening in Goodna, facing similar charges. Both suspects are currently held in custody and appeared in Ipswich Magistrates Court on April 20.
