Queensland Police have formally charged a man in connection with a deadly traffic accident that occurred in Banya on the Sunshine Coast earlier this year. The crash, which took place in January, involved a Mitsubishi Fuso truck driven by a 56-year-old man from Rosemount.

The driver was issued a Notice to Appear in court on April 4. He faces charges for operating a motor vehicle while a relevant drug was present in his system. The court date is set for April 23, where he will appear before the Caloundra Magistrates Court.

The Forensic Crash Unit is continuing its investigation to determine the precise circumstances of the crash. As part of their ongoing commitment to road safety, the Queensland Police remind the public of the critical importance of safe driving practices.
