The Queensland Police Service’s (QPS) 2026 Dog Squad Calendar campaign successfully raised $53,015 for the charities Blue Paws and Blue Hope. This significant contribution was celebrated with a ceremonial event in Brisbane last week, where the funds were equally distributed between the two organizations.

The calendar, featuring the dedicated police dogs of Queensland, sold out in numerous locations due to immense public support. Acting Officer in Charge of the Brisbane Dog Squad, Sergeant Tony Chiverall, extended heartfelt gratitude to the community for their enthusiasm and backing. “These dogs not only enhance our safety but also enrich our lives with their loyalty and bravery,” said Sergeant Chiverall.

Proceeds from the sales will assist retired police dogs through Blue Paws Association, ensuring they receive the necessary care post-service, according to Blue Paws founding member, Nick Donald. Additionally, Blue Hope Support Services will utilize their share to bolster the mental health resources available to current and former police officers and their families. Brad Rix, a spokesperson for Blue Hope, highlighted the direct impact of these funds on enhancing vital support services for frontline officers.

The event also saw a special appearance by Police Dog (PD) Storm, who playfully ‘signed’ the ceremonial cheques. This act of goodwill was translated by Sergeant Chiverall, who conveyed PD Storm’s ‘woofs’ of appreciation to all supporters of the calendar.
