In a distressing incident on March 23, a 20-year-old man allegedly committed an armed robbery at a Denham Street store in Rockhampton. The Queensland Police Service (QPS) reported that the suspect, alongside a female accomplice, entered the store around 4:15 pm. Brandishing a screwdriver, he threatened an employee and forcibly took cash and other items before fleeing the scene. Authorities swiftly responded, apprehending the man and his accomplice a short distance from the crime scene. The man, hailing from Rockhampton, faces several charges including armed robbery in company, entering premises with intent to commit an indictable offense, and obstructing a police officer. He has been remanded in custody and appeared before the Rockhampton Magistrates Court on March 25. The 37-year-old woman from Norman Gardens involved in the incident was released without charges.
