A fatal traffic incident occurred on the Barkly Highway, approximately 40 kilometers east of Camooweal, Queensland, on the night of March 24, leading to the death of a woman. The Queensland Police Service’s Forensic Crash Unit is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the tragic event.

At around 9:17 pm, police and emergency services were dispatched to the scene near Flora Downs Road after reports emerged of a woman being hit by a truck. Upon arrival, the woman was found with critical injuries and was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the truck, identified as a 60-year-old man from New South Wales, was transported to Mount Isa Hospital for medical treatment. Efforts are underway to formally identify the deceased woman, and further investigations are being conducted to determine the exact cause and dynamics of the crash.

Authorities are urging anyone with potential information, including dashcam footage from the time of the incident, to come forward.
