In a recent address, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized the uncertainty surrounding Russia’s willingness to genuinely and honorably conclude its ongoing conflict with Ukraine. This address was part of an official update posted on the President’s official website on March 21, 2026.

President Zelenskyy provided a brief on the day’s key events, including his discussions with Ukrainian officials about the aftermath of Russian strikes which led to significant power outages and damages across various regions including Chernihiv, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, Dnipro, Donetsk, and Kharkiv. Despite repeated strikes, emergency repair and restoration efforts are actively underway with the involvement of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine and local municipal services.

On an international diplomacy front, Ukrainian representatives are currently in the United States engaging with American counterparts, including Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, to further diplomatic efforts aimed at ending the conflict. The discussions, set to continue, focus on gauging Russia’s readiness to cease hostilities under terms of honesty and dignity, particularly under the shadow of rising geopolitical tensions involving Iran.

In another significant development, President Zelenskyy applauded France’s recent actions against a shadow fleet tanker utilized by Russia to transport oil, which also involved Iranian oil. This vessel, already under sanctions by multiple global entities including Ukraine, the United Kingdom, the European Union, and the United States, represents a broader issue of continuous aggression and violation of international sanctions by Russia and its allies.

In a personal note, President Zelenskyy mentioned his attendance at the farewell service for Patriarch Filaret at St. Michael’s Cathedral, honoring his significant contributions to Ukraine’s spiritual independence and the establishment of an autocephalous church.
