Queensland police have arrested two men and seized a significant quantity of drugs and assets in a major crackdown on methylamphetamine trafficking across the state. Detectives from the Crime Command Organised Crime Gangs Group, alongside officers from the Central Region, executed multiple search warrants in Rockhampton, Gold Coast, and Mackay, leading to the arrests. The operation, conducted with the assistance of the Gold Coast Major and Organised Crime Squad, the Mackay Tactical Crime Squad, and the Rockhampton Criminal Investigation Branch, targeted the widespread distribution of methylamphetamine. Searches were carried out on February 25 at a Reedy Creek residence, a property in The Leap, and a vehicle in Rockhampton. Authorities discovered 9.5kg of methylamphetamine, 162 grams of cocaine, over $175,000 in cash, and seized three vehicles: a Toyota Landcruiser, Toyota Prado, and a Ford Ranger. A 40-year-old man detained in Rockhampton faces multiple charges, including two counts of possessing dangerous drugs exceeding Schedule 4 (methylamphetamine and cocaine) and other related offenses. He was expected to appear in the Rockhampton Magistrates Court on February 27. Meanwhile, a 46-year-old man apprehended in Mackay was charged with similar drug-related offenses and appeared in the Mackay Magistrates Court on February 26. Detective Inspector Craig Bowman of the Organised Crime Gangs Group emphasized the collaborative efforts of police across regions to dismantle organized crime networks. “This investigation demonstrates our continued focus on targeting all aspects of illicit enterprises, disrupting their activities, and ensuring those responsible are brought to justice to keep our communities safe,” he stated.
