Two individuals lost their lives in a devastating vehicular accident at Sandy Creek, Queensland, on the afternoon of February 23, 2026. The incident involved a single vehicle, specifically a Polaris Ranger utility terrain vehicle (UTV), which veered off an embankment and collided with a tree on a property located on Cedarvale Road.

The crash resulted in the immediate fatality of the 59-year-old male driver and a 75-year-old male passenger who was seated in the left rear of the vehicle. Additionally, a dog present in the vehicle also perished due to the impact. A 33-year-old female passenger, seated in the right rear, sustained critical injuries and was subsequently airlifted to the Royal Brisbane Women’s Hospital. A 50-year-old female, who managed to self-extract from the wrecked vehicle, was also airlifted but to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital for medical attention.

Authorities have since towed the UTV for a thorough mechanical inspection to aid the ongoing investigations by the Forensic Crash Unit. Queensland Police Service urges anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward and assist by contacting Policelink or reporting anonymously via Crime Stoppers. This tragic event underscores the critical need for vigilance and safety on private properties and rural roads.
