A devastating traffic incident on the Bruce Highway near Burpengary, occurring late last night on February 17, has prompted Queensland Police to issue a public appeal for witnesses and dashcam footage.

At approximately 10:30 PM, emergency services, including police, were dispatched to the scene where a white Isuzu truck, traveling southbound in the northbound lanes, collided head-on with a northbound white Honda Accord near the Deception Bay exit. The impact caused the Honda to catch fire, tragically resulting in the death of a 26-year-old Caboolture man at the scene, who has been identified as the driver of the Honda.

The 46-year-old Redcliffe man driving the Isuzu sustained life-threatening injuries and was rushed to the hospital for urgent medical care. The northbound lanes of the Bruce Highway were closed for several hours following the crash but have since been reopened.

Authorities have noted that the Isuzu was not the only vehicle reported traveling in the wrong direction prior to the accident. The police are intensively investigating the circumstances that led to the crash and are keen to locate additional vehicles that were seen traveling the wrong way.

Queensland Police are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or has relevant dashcam footage to come forward to assist with the ongoing investigation.
