Early this morning, Townsville was shaken by a series of alarming incidents, including a fire and reports of gunfire, prompting a thorough investigation by the Queensland Police Service (QPS). The events, all occurring within close temporal proximity, have raised concerns about their potential connection.

Just before dawn at around 4:00 AM, the police were called to a fire at a commercial building on Woolcock Street in the Currajong area, which resulted in structural damage to the property. Shortly thereafter, another call led police to a gym on the same street in Mount Louisa, where shots had reportedly been fired. By 4:30 AM, the chaos continued as officers were dispatched to address a vehicle ablaze at Black River. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported in any of the incidents.

The Queensland Police are actively seeking witnesses and have appealed to the public for any dashcam or CCTV footage that could assist in their investigation. They are exploring the possibility that these incidents are interconnected. The police have provided contact information and encouraged anyone with information to use the various available channels, including Policelink and Crime Stoppers, to report anonymously if preferred.

Authorities have issued reference numbers QP2600259321 and QP2600259337 for these incidents and urge the public to quote them when providing any pertinent information. As the investigation continues, the community remains on alert, and updates are expected as more details become available.
