In a significant operation on January 25, Queensland Police’s Logan District Tactical Crime Squad apprehended a 22-year-old man from Yarrabilba linked to serious firearm and drug offenses. The arrest followed a meticulous investigation fueled by intelligence reports about the man’s alleged involvement in the illegal trade of firearms and narcotics. The operation commenced with a search warrant executed at a residence on Springbrook Street in Yarrabilba, uncovering an alarming cache of eight firearms, including two modified for concealability, alongside quantities of cocaine, cash, and drug paraphernalia. The suspect was not present during the raid but was later intercepted and arrested in a silver Nissan Navara in the vicinity of Holmview and Beenleigh areas. Detective Acting Inspector Kent Ellis expressed the operation underlined the critical role of intelligence-led policing in community safety. “Illicit firearms pose a grave risk to public safety, and our team is committed to acting decisively on any information concerning their possession or distribution,” he stated. The swift action by the police removed these dangerous items from potential circulation, contributing to the safety of the community. Charged with 22 offenses, including multiple counts of unlawful weapon possession and drug-related crimes, the accused remains in custody, awaiting his court appearance scheduled for March 24 at the Beaudesert Magistrates Court.
