A police officer was injured after being struck by a vehicle in an incident at Nerang, Gold Coast, on February 3, authorities reported. The Queensland Police Service (QPS) confirmed that the officer was responding to a disturbance at a park on Lawrence Drive around 7:40 am when the event occurred.

According to the QPS, several individuals were allegedly threatening another person with a weapon at the park. When officers arrived at the scene, the suspects fled in a white Hyundai I30 with false registration plates, hitting one of the officers in the process. The 38-year-old male constable sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was subsequently transported to a local hospital for treatment.

A 26-year-old man from Robina has been arrested and charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, and an evasion offense. He is scheduled to appear before the Southport Magistrates Court today.
